How We Met

Jason and I grew up in the same city, but went to different schools. In 2002 I started working at the local McDonald's, where Jason also worked. I thought he was cute, but he was seeing another co-worker. Then I took a LOA to start college and when I returned in May of 2003 he was still there, but single! After a few weeks of innocent flirting Jason finally got the courage to ask me out. I was almost 19, and he was 17, so at first the age difference was difficult. After a few rocky years and some growing up, we were finally on the same page, and we've been solid ever since.

The Proposal

In August of 2006 we took a weekend trip to Door County. The area is known for it's bed & breakfasts and wineries, which makes for a romantic setting. I thought for sure Jason was going to propose there, but nope! I thought he would probably wait until Christmas then, so my guard was down. Well, as it turns out, Jason had been saving for a down payment on a ring and didn't have quite enough before our trip, so after we got back from Door County Jason went to my parent's house to ask their permission to marry me. Of course they said yes! Then he went ring shopping with his step-dad and little brother, and I must say he did a great job!

One week after our trip Jason asked me to come over to his place because he needed to talk about some family stuff. When I arrived he said he wanted to go down to the lakefront (Lake Michigan) to talk. When we got there the sun was just setting and instead of talking about his family he started talking about us and how much he loved me. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.  It was perfect!
